About me

I am a qualified counsellor / Psychotherapist with Counselling Psychology training. I have 19 years experience of clinical work. I specialise in working with Alcohol and Drugs Misuse and have extensive counselling experience in this area.

Between 2001 and 2008 I worked as a Substance Misuse counsellor at a local Addiction Counselling Service (ASCA).
During my time at ASCA I managed the counselling service, worked at various G.P surgeries in the Kingston & Richmond areas, provided clinical supervision to volunteer counsellors and carried out Alcohol/Drug training for new counsellors.

Between 2010 and 2016 I worked at Mind in Kingston in the role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Mind in Kingston is a charity which supports people who experience mental health difficulties and   promotes awareness of mental health issues in the community. My responsibilities were varied and involved the management of various projects such as Floating Support and developing and managing a counselling service for people in the Kingston Borough.

In addition, I  worked for two years as a bereavement counsellor and supervisor at
Kingston Bereavement Service (KBS) and as an Experiential Group Facilitator on a counselling training course at NESCOT college.

I have been in private practice since 2004, working with varied issues at my private clinic.

My approach to counselling is, in the main, integrative. This means that I incorporate various counselling approaches in my work.
The main counselling approaches I use are: Psychodynamic, Humanistic (Person-Centred, Existential, TA) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I also work with Therapeutic Cards as part of a treatment model for PTSD and various other issues.
My work focuses on the therapeutic relationship between my clients and myself. This helps to enhance understanding and trust which are vital to the therapeutic process.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the United Kingdom Association for Psychotherapy Integration (UKAPI).

As a registered member of BACP (MBACP Reg), I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to its Professional Conduct Procedure.

I receive and provide clinical supervision on a regular basis.
